Welcome to

Margery Parsons Psychotherapist

My name is Margery Parsons, and I am a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist.

I am an established therapist with over 20 years of experience. I facilitate beneficial therapeutic results for people as I bring intelligence, integrity, kindness and consistent support to all of my clients. My clients are able to open up their emotions and feelings in a safe, secure and confidential environment.

My working therapeutic modality is Psychodynamic. I have excellent clinical skills and I am able to provide psychological interventions to my clients. I work with a wide range of common mental health difficulties at the moderate, moderate/severe and severe end of the clinical spectrum. I work with clients in both long-term psychodynamic psychotherapy and short-term psychodynamic counselling.

My expertise lays in helping individuals deal with anxiety, depression, panic disorder, feeling sad and relationship issues.

What is Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and how does Psychodynamic Psychotherapy enable one to gain deeper personal happiness and satisfaction:

Psychodynamic therapy encourages exploration and discussion of the full range of the client's emotions about what has happened in their unique life experience. I help the client describe and put words to feelings, including contradictory feelings, feelings that are troubling or threatening, and feelings that the client may not initially be able to recognise or acknowledge (this stands in contrast to a cognitive focus, where the greater emphasis is on thoughts and beliefs).

There is also a recognition that intellectual insight is not the same as emotional insight, which resonates at a deep level and leads to change; this is one reason why many intelligent and psychologically minded people can explain the reasons for their difficulties, yet their understanding does not help them overcome those difficulties.

By experiencing and participating in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, individuals overcome their difficulties in their unique day to day experiences on an emotional level. This emotional insight informs their intellectual self, enabling them to live fuller more creative and satisfying lives, which leads to self-acceptance and understanding.

I work with private individuals and couples.

I have been practising Psychodynamic Psychotherapy since 2001. I am registered with The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I am a graduate from the Centre for Training in Psychotherapy (CTP) in Toronto, Canada. I am a member of the Hallam Institute for Psychotherapy (HIP) in Sheffield and the Council for Psychoanalysis and Jungian Analysis College (CPJA). My practice is covered by Howden, Professional Civil Liability Insurance.

Clients are eligible to use the following Health Insurance for my therapeutic services: Allianz, Aviva, AXA, Cigna, Vitality and WPA.
